In every Kids' Ministry sunday service, there will be an allocated time when the young children* are escorted to the toilet for their toilet break. One teacher will be in the toilet to ensure the children wash their hands. Subsequently the teacher will help dispense a paper towel to each child to dry his/her hands because most of the children could not reach the paper towel.
During one Sunday service, i was assigned as the teacher in the toilet. One of my favourite student, Ruben did a remarkable thing. Without prompting, he washed his hands with soap and he insisted that he reach for the paper towel himself. He tip-toed and succeeded in reaching for one paper towel. I was so utterly impressed. On our way back to the service room, i praised Ruben.
Me: "Ruben! you are so smart today to wash your hands and reach for the paper towel yourself!!"
Ruben: [in a very sweet voice, tilted his head, winked his watery eyes and gave a wide open grin] , "Yeah i know...hee hee"
Haha i blurted out laughing. To hear these words of wisdom from a really sweet, cute, innocent and adorable child is indeed comforting. Chee our children of God are so intelligent!..
*The children here are only 5 years old hence they need close proximity escort and supervision.
